The trail for Gov. Kathy Hochul’s nomination of Decide Hector LaSalle for chief choose of the New York Court docket of Appeals met a roadblock on Thursday, when Senate Majority Chief Michael Gianaris and one other Senate Democrat introduced the tally of lawmakers who oppose her decide to 12.
The event means Hochul will want votes from throughout the political aisle, from Republican senators, to have her decide confirmed. Thirty-two Senate votes are wanted to verify LaSalle, who could be the state’s first Latino chief choose.
