Regulation college students and legal professionals in Afghanistan are submitting experiences with JURIST on the state of affairs there after the Taliban takeover.  Right here, considered one of our correspondents in Kabul speaks of a wave of resignations of Afghan college professors after Taliban ladies had been formally barred from larger training on Tuesday.  For privateness and safety causes, we’re withholding our correspondent’s title. The textual content has solely been flippantly edited to respect the writer’s voice.

After a Taliban decree on Tuesday introduced that females are usually not allowed to attend universities, a surge of resignations has taken place amongst Afghan college professors. On Wednesday the Taliban bodily closed the gates of all the colleges and compelled women to go away the premises with lashes and sticks. Taliban additionally barged into the non-public universities and beat many women who had been snuck in by their professors to take their final examination in secret.

College professors in response to this immoral resolution have began a motion known as “All or No One”, and are repeatedly rising in numbers in submitting their resignation letters. One professor wrote that “Serving a society the place half the inhabitants’s primary rights are stripped from them, is betrayal.” In response to those reactions, the present Taliban minister of upper training has tweeted a hadith and in some way has interpreted it that for girls “Service to their husbands is extra vital than studying”, and has known as out anybody who has opposed this resolution as  opposing Islam.

A mentality that seeks and elevates supremacy both by gender, ethnic group or just “Somebody who’s a greater Muslim”, is proof against logic. Solely unified motion taken by the worldwide neighborhood might be efficient to finish this hostage state of affairs for a complete nation.

[Since this report was filed earlier today, our correspondent in Kabul adds: “In recent hours they [the Taliban] have introduced that feminine academics, workers and principals are to not be permitted inside faculties.”]
