The Dutch Senate Tuesday voted 56-15 to amend the Structure to ban discrimination on the idea of sexual orientation and incapacity in a significant victory for Dutch LGBTQ+ and incapacity rights activists.
The Senate voted on a proposal to amend Article 1 of the Structure which reads:
All individuals within the Netherlands shall be handled equally in equal circumstances. Discrimination on the grounds of faith, perception, political opinion, race or intercourse or on every other grounds by any means shall not be permitted.
Previous to the passage of this modification, the Dutch structure prohibited discrimination on the idea of faith, philosophy, political choice, race, gender, “or on every other grounds.”
The proposal was initiated by two lawmakers from opposition events and one consultant from the centrist celebration D66, which is a part of the ruling coalition. The invoice was debated on December 20 and was speculated to go to a vote that very same day, however was blocked by the right-wing PVV celebration which referred to as for a roll-call vote.
